I love nighttime makeup. Love, love, love. The problem is, I get into a rut and consistently apply the same look: gray smoky eye, neutral glossy lip.
Luba really helped me up my makeup game, ladies. Check out the incredible green glow and warm pink lip. Who knew vibrant green eye shadow was so incredibly wearable?
Here’s the look!
Evening Glamour:
1. Apply Eden across the lid from lash line to crease
2. Blend Rain Forest into the crease and outer corner of the eye,
then softly line under the lower lash line
3. Highlight the eye, sweeping Silk under the brow bone and blending
into the crease and applying to the inner corner if the eye
4. Line upper lash line with Spiral. For more definition, line the
lower lash line with Spiral using a wet eyeliner brush
5. Polish the look with Total Mascara on upper and lower lashes
Luba finished my look with a healthy coat of Neutrale lip color and a sweep of Rosewood blush.
We would love to see this look on all of you! Please, post your Evening Glamour looks on Facebook!

The blog team has been working on something pretty incredible over the last few weeks. We didn’t want you to just have to take our word on how great all of these new launches truly are…
We called on some beautiful models and our incredible MoBE makeup artist, Luba, to show you exactly what you are in for! For the next 10 days, we will be presenting to you a new look daily combined with some great tips to help you get the most out of these fabulous products! We'll be pairing them with fashion trends, how-to's, and other great info as well as some beautiful shots of these looks on our models.
The amazing and talented (understatement of the year!) Frances Hathaway has taken our Artistry palette and tailored all of the fall trend looks especially for us. A leading makeup artist in the fashion and beauty industry, we couldn’t be more excited to have her magic involved in our collection.
Don’t forget to tune in EVERY day to see what we have put together for you!
Summer is coming to an end and for many of us this means saying goodbye to our vibrant, bronzed faces (which we only have because we safely tanned using SPF, of course). Never fear! Artistry has provided the perfect way to keep your face looking bright and luminous all year round – introducing the Shimmer Effects collection.
The Shimmer Effects collection contains two multi-dimensional highlighting products; Shimmer Loose Powder and 3D Face Powder. Both products work to illuminate the face and minimize the appearance of imperfections.
The products were developed by Frances Hathaway. Hathaway has provided Artistry fans with an exclusive application guide for the 3D Face Powder, giving you all the help you need to shine on! Enjoy!

Romantic, sophisticated and glamorous. The Fall 2010 Reflective Beauty Collection conveys it all. This collection encompasses both the vintage and modern and allows you to take your look to exciting new places!
The two new palette names - Perfection and Inspiration - couldn't be more suitable. They both step out of the safe zone, and let you choose your level of stand out color. Light washes of warm pastel glow or dark sweeps of cool intense pigment.
The lip color covers both ends of the spectrum – a shimmery pink and a vibrant and sheer red. Both shades can be taken from day to night and retain the same wow factor.
The collection also includes one of the hottest trends out there – a rich navy mascara. The possibilities with a deep blue lash frame are endless. Not only flattering with all eye color shades, the blue tone whitens and brightens your eyes.
5 more days! Can you stand it?

Can’t wait to see you beauties rocking these phenomenal shades!

It’s like a whole new world for Artistry cosmetics.

“The eyes have one language everywhere” - George Herbert
Your eyes are truly the window to your soul. This means you better make sure you take care of those peepers!
Certain bad “eye habits” are incredibly hard to break. I am just as guilty as the next person!
1) Scrubbing too hard trying to get yesterday’s makeup off from under your eyes after showering or before bed
2) Rubbing your eyes when they itch or are tired
3) Skipping the shades and squinting in the sun
4) Smoking, drinking, unhealthy eating or lack of sleep
5) Applying under eye make with firm pressure/pulling at the skin
All of us struggle with at least one of the above. Though it may be impossible to remember NOT to rub those sleepy eyes every time, there are a few things that you can do to keep them looking bright and fresh.
BE GENTLE. Pat your eye moisturizer on with a light touch. Apply a creamy concealer with a brush and a light hand. No rubbing, pulling, or scrubbing that eye area!
MOISTURIZE OFTEN. The delicate skin around your eyes is prone to dryness and crepiness. Use a cream/moisturizer specially designed for the eye area to prevent irritation. Press this gently into your skin with your ring finger.
COOL OFF. Late nights, tough times, and the wrong foods can really increase eye puffiness and circles. Try a cool wet chamomile tea bag, cucumber slices, or cotton balls soaked in milk to soothe and de-puff your overworked eyes. (The tea bags work wonders. I can attest to that!!)
SHADES. Put on those sunglasses! They don’t just protect your actual eyeballs, but they protect the skin around your eyes as well from wrinkles and sun damage. Wear them to prevent squinting and get a pair that has actual sun protection, not just a cute frame!
So remember: Pat, don’t pull. Press, don’t rub. Put on those shades and enjoy the rest of this hot and beautiful summer!

A shiny forehead can ruin any picture for me. I don’t care how glorious my hair looks, how sparkling my smile… if my face is shiny – *DELETE!* I was unfortunately blessed with some very oily skin. Though it will help me out in the long run (less prone to wrinkles!), it’s just really ruining any possibility for a successful Emily photo op.
I have pretty much mastered the skill of photo ready makeup. It has taken many years and many tries, but I think I have it down!
When I wash my face, I make sure to use a balancing (or oil controlling) cleanser and toner. Even though oily skin usually seems like the last skin type you’d want to moisturize, pretty please do! Trying to dry out your oily skin will only increase oil production in your skin. I like a light balancing moisturizer.
I let the moisturizer absorb into my skin. I always go for a foundation with the same balancing benefits as my cleanser. Many people prefer to use a foundation brush to apply, but I always reach for a sponge. It seems to really let the foundation settle into my skin without fear of it sliding off later. I apply to the center of my face and blend outward. This helps you avoid the mask look. If you want a more matte look on oily skin, I’d suggest you don’t go for anything “illuminating” or “radiant”. It may look beautiful upon application, but you won’t be singing it’s praises in a few hours if the weather is the least bit warm or unfavorable!!
Grab your fluffiest powder brush. I like either a translucent or loose powder with no shimmer or sparkle. Gently dab your brush in the powder and tap off the excess. The goal is too dust away the shine but NOT to look pancakey! Again, begin at the center of your face (nose and chin) and dust over your face. If you have fine lines around the eye area, make sure to pat with your ring finger to help avoid powder settling there.
Finish with a matte pink toned blush. I generally stick to the apples of my cheeks.
For just a tad bit of illumination, brush a shimmer powder or shimmery white or gold eye shadow lightly along your cheekbones.
There is a photo ready supermodel in all of us, ladies!

Don’t miss out on this... It could be your chance of a lifetime!

If you are like me, you have a variety of lip colors but always seem to return to the one favorite. One of my favorite lip colors happens to be our Lip Crème in Rouge. To make sure I am not wearing the same lip look out every time I’m out on the town, I have found ways to change it up without changing shades!
I love the “wine stained” or “just bitten” look. To accomplish this, flip your lipstick over so that the application angle is upside down/facing up. Open your lips slightly and roll the lip color in between. Push lips together to smudge slightly.
Add gloss! Apply your color liberally with a lip brush (start with a lip liner for more staying power) and then apply a clear top coat of gloss. This will give your lipstick a great 3D power!
Apply your color to the center of your lips, both top and bottom. Blend outward with your finger until you achieve a “healthy” look. This is kind of like a slight upgrade to your already great natural lips!
For an intense velvety look, apply your lip color straight from the bullet. Take a second to blot your lips and then immediately reapply.
Do you have any other ways that you like to wear your favorite lip color?

One of the most frustrating shopping experiences for me is the hunt for a good pair of sunglasses. I always see the cutest pairs in the magazines that I regularly dig through, but when I go to try them on, they NEVER WORK! Why is that? Well, friends, no two noggins are made alike! In order to get yourself a pair of perfect made for you shades, you have to consider shape of your face. As much as I adore those giant Audrey Hepburn-esque frames, they frankly make me look like a bug.
Oval: Oval faces tend to have high cheekbones and a chin that is narrower than their forehead. You are the lucky ones. Almost every style of sunglasses will work for you! Look for a pair that follows the line of your eyebrows.
Triangle: The top of your face is narrow and you have a strong wide chin and cheeks. You are going to look for a pair that angle up and give some width to the top of your face. Try cat eye frames!
Inverted Triangle/Heart: You will have a wide forehead and a long, narrow chin. Try glasses that give width to the rest of your face. Frames that sit low on the temples are a great choice. You can rock the brightly colored styles, which draw attention to the top of your face.
Square: A square face is characterized by a strong jaw, wide forehead, wide chin and wide cheekbones. You are going to go for a style that “lengthens” your face. Look for a pair that is heavier on the top, narrower styles and oval or round frames.
Diamond: This face shape has a small forehead, high cheekbones, close set eyes and a narrow jaw. You can wear the wide, square frames better than anyone! Wide, round frames also work for you.
Round: Faces that are full without much cheekbone or jaw definition are considered round. Avoid round frames, and go for a pair which lengthen. Choose styles that have square or rectangular frames.
Oblong/Rectangular: You have a narrow face that is longer than it is wide. Angular features with high cheekbones, a longer nose and tall forehead. Look for broad glasses with an accented top rim or decorative temple that adds width.

Remember, the frame shape should compliment your face shape by contrasting and not mirroring it.
Whatever your face’s shape, there IS pair out there for you!

Following the right steps for skin care is crucial! Each step prepares your skin for the next incredible product. With everything that's available and right at your fingertips, it’s tempting to purchase an exiting new product only to discover that you’re not quite sure where it fits into your daily regimen.
This is the official ARTISTRY™ approach to great skin – straight from the mouths of our experts!
Follow these steps daily, both morning and night!
1. Cleanse your face and neck, twice, with your ARTISTRY cleanser. Double cleansing insures that you whisk away every trace of dirt and makeup, leaving your skin fresh and free of debris.
2. Tone your face and neck with a cotton pad that has been saturated with your selected toning formula. This step removes all remaining traces of cleanser. It also restores your skin to a normal and balanced pH level, making it receptive to the next important step.
3. Treat your skin with the products selected for your particular needs. Target fine lines, discoloration, loss of elasticity, blemishes or uneven skin tone in this all-important step. Light-as-a-feather ARTISTRY products are best absorbed by clean, balanced skin. Apply them sparingly to face and neck; they won't feel heavy or greasy.
4. Pamper the eyes. Using the tip of your ring finger, dab eye crème under each eye and around the outer corners.
5. Final step. Moisturize and protect your skin with a moisturizer containing sun protection to halt moisture loss and damage from dry external conditions and UV rays. ARTISTRY moisturizers are designed to provide just the right amount of hydration whether your skin is dry or oily. Many contain specially-formulated complexes which enhance the effects of ARTISTRY products and have all been tested on sensitive skin. However, if sensitivities still exist, a formula without SPF is offered.
Once or twice a week:
Indulge yourself with a relaxing facial masque. Remove your makeup, cleanse your skin, slather on one of the technologically-advanced ARTISTRY masques and put your feet up. You'll benefit from an extra boost of skin-enhancing action, whether you need deep cleansing or super moisturizing. After 20 minutes, remove the masque, cleanse once more, and proceed to tone, treat and moisturize.
My question is, how many of you knew that the treatment products are applied before your moisturiser?

One of the fastest ways to improve the appearance of your skin is by exfoliation. Exfoliation helps the skin look its best by removing the dead skin cells and revealing the new, fresh skin underneath. Everyone can benefit from this important and simple step that will uncover your luminous skin, reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles and pores, and will help with penetration of skin care products.
There are many options in the world of skin care when it comes to exfoliating products. One of the most common and popular is a scrub. When considering a scrub, make sure that the particles are perfectly spherical. That way they are not going to create microscopic scratches on your skin. Artistry’s Polishing Scrub is a perfect example of such a product. If you have delicate skin you can apply the scrub on to the wet face and gently exfoliate from the bottom of your face going up in small circles. If your skin is tougher, you can apply the scrub directly to the dry face and use Artistry’s Microexfoliation Cloth. The cloth will help to improve the performance of the scrub.
Many exfoliants contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids or AHAs. They have the ability to exfoliate and smooth the skin’s surface chemically and can be a great choice for people with more mature, resistant skin types. Artistry’s Alpha Hydroxy Serum Plus can make the skin feel smoother by 60% in just 12 weeks! It is gentle enough for most skin types and can be applied after toner in the morning and at night.
For people who experience acne, products with Beta Hydroxy Acids or BHAs would be a great choice. The most common acid in that group is Salicylic acid. It is used to target acne and clear pores.
When exfoliation is done on the regular basis, the new, fresh skin becomes more exposed and vulnerable. To protect it, use of sunscreen should become an everyday habit.
